Workshop Options:

  1. Resistance Tube - What is electrical resistance? Have your students use a resistance tube to find out what factors affect the resistance of a wire.
  2. Which Tape is Stickiest (Friction Calculator)? New Kit - Students will test to find out which tape has the most friction by rolling a ball down a ramp and measuring the stopping distance. They will also use data to predict stopping distances.
  3. Physics of Collisions New Kit  - What happens when objects collide? Students will explore how energy changes when objects collide by rolling marbles on a ramp.
  4. Electromagnets - How can an electric current produce a magnetic field? How can a magnet produce a current? Students will explore these concepts as they test out different variables to create the strongest electromagnet. Older students can construct a paper speaker.
  5. ASU Lab Tours - What does a research lab look like? Take a tour of some of the ASU labs to learn about some of the research that is going on and what kind of instruments are used.
