Professor Kim named Interim Director of Fermilab

We are thrilled to share that Dr. Young-Kee Kim, a distinguished leader in experimental particle and accelerator physics, has been named interim director of Fermilab, effective January 13, 2025.

Professor Kim, currently the Albert A. Michelson Distinguished Service Professor of Physics at the University of Chicago and a theme leader at the Center for Bright Beams, brings an impressive legacy of expertise to this role. Her prior experience includes serving as Fermilab's deputy director from 2006 to 2013.
With her fresh perspective and deep knowledge, Professor Kim will guide Fermilab through this transitional period as it continues to tackle fundamental questions in science and drive innovation in particle physics, quantum science, and accelerator research.

The search for a permanent director is already underway, but in the meantime, Fermilab is in exceptional hands. Please join us in congratulating Professor Kim and celebrating her continued contributions to advancing science!
